So when I realised she was setting up Happy Friday, I was delighted to take part. I couldn't think of what I would include to start with but reading a few of the other bloggers posts I soon realised I was looking for something far too complicated and hadn't noticed the simple things around me.
I noticed from our lounge window this morning how beautiful the sky was.
This made me feel happy!
I have recently joined a patchwork and quilting group and have set myself the task of completing 6 placemats, each one a different design but using the same colours. We meet on a Friday so this week's is (thankfully!) completed ready to start another.
I did not enjoy making this one, it was so difficult to keep everything lined up and wrinkle free so it made me extremely happy
when I finally finished it and it didn't look quite as bad as I thought it would!!
I'll leave you now with pictures of a few of the items I made with Planet Penny Cotton.
A Giraffe for my daughter (who's 24 I might add!!)

You have been so busy creating these beautiful items. I'm so taken with your quilting skills - that looks like a difficult project. I love the little camera case with the popcorn stitches. Very nice. I wish you Happy Friday :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comment Pat. The patchwork technique is called Japanese Folded Patchwork. It doesn't need backing or binding so in this respect it is quite quick to do, but getting everything square was not easy no matter how accurate I thought I had been!
DeleteI really like your place mat design. You've got me thinking now I need some new place mats. We have glass ones and they shatter into tiny pieces unexpectedly. Fabric would be safer. Oh I love the makes with penny's yarn, gorgeous colours. I think we girls all like a soft toy no matter our ages. I know my daughter (22) would love the giraffe. Have a lovely weekend.
ReplyDeleteAli xx
I chose the jewellery rolls and placemats as they are not too big but still give the scope to try out different techniques. Not only is Planet Penny Cotton colourful it was gorgeous to work with too. Here is the link to the free pattern I used for the giraffe for anyone who is interested.

ReplyDeleteYour very welcome. I had a lovely time. Off to my next Patchwork group later on today :) Will try and post a few piccies when I know what design I'm doing next.
DeleteHow bad is my English. I meant You're very welcome and on your blog I used new instead of knew!! Not usually this bad must be a senior moment :)
DeleteSuch a pretty skyscape, definitely worth a smile.
ReplyDeleteWow! That mandala is gorgeous! I love the blanket my Pet Crocheter (my Mum) made me with the PP cottons. The colours are just fabulous.

I totally agree :) I was really pleased with the way the mandala turned out. All the better for the gorgeous PP colours
DeleteWhat a lovely tablemat. I will look forward to seeing the other patterns. Your knits are a great advert for Penny's wool. Love the giraffe.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I'm very pleased with the colours of the fabric I have chosen for the placemats. Somerset patchwork for the next one, I think! 'Giraffe' is rather cute isn't he. My daughter has him sat in her lounge :)
DeleteI agree, its the simple things that can provide so much happiness that we tend to miss! I love your mandala in the bright cotton and the other items too. Your fiddly fingers must be very busy fingers! Lovely to see you over at my blog too xxx
