We bought a new 'toy' this week! A replacement pressure washer to clean patios and also clean the rendering. There was an argument as to who would have a go first - like a couple of kids we were!!! See the difference it makes to the patio. It is great fun and very satisfying :)
Crochet wise this week I have been working out a few squares for a Follow On Crochet workshop I am running next weekend. I'm not too hopeful it will go ahead though as of the middle of last week there was only 1 person booked in!! I know people leave it to the last minute to book but I still don't think we'll get enough by next week for it to run. Have a look at the squares anyway.
I love this fun popcorn square
This shows various ways of doing simple spike stitch
And this square uses a lot of loooong stitches
And a pretty flower square!
Before popping over to Handmade Monday at Lucy Blossom Crafts I'll leave you with a picture of my pretty Mother's Day cards from my daughters. I wanted to remember my Mum also, who passed away 22 years ago, so I lit a candle for her to make sure she was part of the celebrations too.
I hope you have all enjoyed your Mother's Day :)
Aww lovely cards from your girls and such a nice idea to light a candle for your mum too. The crochet squares are so fun, i especially like the bobbly one! I hope you get enough takers for the workshop, i know it will be a fantastic experience for those who attend x
ReplyDeleteHmmm ... I hope so to :)
DeleteI love your crochet squares, fingers crossed enough people want to come along.
ReplyDeleteWith a bit of luck they will:)
DeleteIt looks like that pressure washer stops you getting quite as dirty as the other one did! I like the bobbly crochet square best too! Happy Mother's Day! :D xx
ReplyDeleteThanks sweetheart :) It's a lot quicker too and still good fun :)
DeleteI love your crochet squares And the gorgeous neon colours you used! Id really love to try out that spike stitch in the 2nd square. What thoughtful daughters you have! Hope you had a lovely Mothers Day. Here in Australia we have Mothers Day in September in the Spring!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing xox
Hi Louise, lovely to see you over this way. The Spike Stitch is just a dc in a row or two below, but is quite effective. It is Spring over here at the moment maybe that's why we have Mother's Day now?
DeleteLovely cards. I hope you had a good day. The wedding dress sound very exciting, but quite a responsibility.
ReplyDeleteOh yes! It is very early days for the dress yet but I'm sure it will have it's fair share of problems. The secret I think is not to worry about them until they arrive!!!
DeleteLove the bright squares, its fun to try out different stitches!
ReplyDeleteIm liking the popcorn square xx
It makes you smile doesn't it :)
DeleteMothers Day without your own mum is hard, I love the way you have included yours today. As my oldest hasn't broken up for uni holiday yet we are floating my mothers day for a few weeks, so I still have it to look forward to.
ReplyDeleteI love the bright popcorn stitch effect the best on your samples, do you end up with lots of ends to sew in?
Enjoy your Mother's Day when you get around to it. It will be nice to have something to look forward to.
DeleteThere are ends to sew in on the popcorn square but I just poked them into the popcorn :)
The cards are so pretty and love the squares you have made.
ReplyDeleteWe have one of those washers, tip wear wellies.
Usually I do it in the summer in bare feet! But you know what it's like when you get a new 'toy' ... you have to try it out immediately :D
DeleteI love the squares. The polka dot & the flower are my favourite I think. Hope the dress making continues to go well x
ReplyDeleteI'll keep you up to date on how I get on :)
DeleteHow exciting to be making your daughter's wedding dress, they are always such precious items of clothing but even more so when made by a loving mum xx
ReplyDeleteThank you Josie. It's mainly a way of getting what she would like for the money she can afford but I have to admit I am really looking forward to the challenge and expect I will learn an awful lot in the process.
DeleteLove your Mothers days Cards they are so pretty, I hope that you had a great day, how exciting to me making your daughters wedding dress, I hope we eventually get to see it. The crochet squares are lovely! I will have to get my pressure washer out as soon as the weather gets a bit warmer, it's usually an April job for me, two friends and myself share one but last year the handle kept falling off and I kept getting drenched I've probably broken it some how. Have a great week. :) xx
ReplyDeleteI love the crochet squares and good luck with the wedding dress, what an exciting project to be working on. xx
ReplyDeleteThank you, I may need a bit of luck :)
DeleteIt looks like you had great fun using the patio cleaner! Very pretty colours for your crochet squares and I am envious as I never did manage to get the hang of crochet.
ReplyDeleteThere's still time and yes we had a lot of fun with the pressure washer :)
DeleteYour squares look fantastic!! I do hope you get more to sign up as that looks like a great workshop!!! I got a pressure washer recently for our ever dangerous decking.. never seems to take long to get slippy! I haven't used it much yet tho so really must! (you have inspired me!)
ReplyDeleteLol! Glad to have helped :)
DeleteThose crochet squares really are the cutest!
ReplyDeleteThank you :)
DeleteI'm loving the colours in the squares, bright and summery, I hope your class fill up :)
ReplyDeleteI love my pressure washer, I used it a few months ago on a pathway that was a bit mossy and slippy. I played around on another pathway and and made heart shapes, as you say, we are all big kids really.
Jan x
Too true :) It just has to be done!! :D
