Crochet Squares

Just a very short post from me this week I'm afraid.  I started making my daughter's Wedding Dress today but I can't tell you much about it or show you any photos as we don't want her OH to see it before the big day!  I have to make a calico tuille first to get the fit right, which is what I have been doing today.  So far so good :)

We bought a new 'toy' this week!  A replacement pressure washer to clean patios and also clean the rendering.  There was an argument as to who would have a go first - like a couple of kids we were!!! See the difference it makes to the patio.  It is great fun and very satisfying :)

Crochet wise this week I have been working out a few squares for a Follow On Crochet workshop I am running next weekend.  I'm not too hopeful it will go ahead though as of the middle of last week there was only 1 person booked in!!  I know people leave it to the last minute to book but I still don't think we'll get enough by next week for it to run. Have a look at the squares anyway.

I love this fun popcorn square

This shows various ways of doing simple spike stitch

And this square uses a lot of loooong stitches

And a pretty flower square!

Before popping over to Handmade Monday at Lucy Blossom Crafts I'll leave you with a picture of my pretty Mother's Day cards from my daughters. I wanted to remember my Mum also, who passed away 22 years ago, so I lit a candle for her to make sure she was part of the celebrations too.

I hope you have all enjoyed your Mother's Day :)

    1. Hi Louise, lovely to see you over this way. The Spike Stitch is just a dc in a row or two below, but is quite effective. It is Spring over here at the moment maybe that's why we have Mother's Day now?

    1. Oh yes! It is very early days for the dress yet but I'm sure it will have it's fair share of problems. The secret I think is not to worry about them until they arrive!!!

  7. Mothers Day without your own mum is hard, I love the way you have included yours today. As my oldest hasn't broken up for uni holiday yet we are floating my mothers day for a few weeks, so I still have it to look forward to.
I love the bright popcorn stitch effect the best on your samples, do you end up with lots of ends to sew in?

There are ends to sew in on the popcorn square but I just poked them into the popcorn :)

    1. Thank you Josie. It's mainly a way of getting what she would like for the money she can afford but I have to admit I am really looking forward to the challenge and expect I will learn an awful lot in the process.

  11. Love your Mothers days Cards they are so pretty, I hope that you had a great day, how exciting to me making your daughters wedding dress, I hope we eventually get to see it. The crochet squares are lovely! I will have to get my pressure washer out as soon as the weather gets a bit warmer, it's usually an April job for me, two friends and myself share one but last year the handle kept falling off and I kept getting drenched I've probably broken it some how. Have a great week. :) xx

  15. I'm loving the colours in the squares, bright and summery, I hope your class fill up :)
I love my pressure washer, I used it a few months ago on a pathway that was a bit mossy and slippy. I played around on another pathway and and made heart shapes, as you say, we are all big kids really.
