Remembering Taffy's visit to the Dentist

It's a pleasure to be linking up to Handmade Monday again this week at it's new home with Lucy Blossom Crafts.  Wendy from Handmade Harbour has done a fantastic job of hosting 200 Handmade Mondays and I wish her well with her choice to concentrate on her illustrations. I would also like to thank Vicky of Lucy Blossom Crafts for taking over this very friendly and welcoming link party and am sure it will continue to be a great success.

This week we had a visit to the dentist :( Only a check up, but never my favourite place to go!  I remembered some time ago on a previous visit we took Taffy with us for his first check up.  Who is Taffy I hear you ask?  Now, followers of my blog from the beginning will know the answer to this, but for those of you who wonder what on earth I'm talking about, take a peek at this post and all will be revealed.

Have you had any 'interesting' trips to the dentist recently?
Here's how Taffy got on.

Poor Taffy!
This was his first ever visit and he was a little anxious to say the least!  But, do not despair, everything went well!
This is our fantastic dentist, we have known him for many years now (longer than I care to calculate!) so I knew Taffy would be in good hands. He soon put Taffy at ease. Can you see how relaxed Taffy looks?
 Open wide Taffy!
"Everything looks fine" said the dentist.  "See you again in 6 months"
"Phew" said Taffy!
Taffy is looking very pleased with himself now!  The dentist gave him a sticker for being such a good teddy!
I think this may have been a first for the dentist, as well as Taffy!
What do you think?

Hope you have enjoyed reading about Taffy.
He has got up to all sorts of mischief on his adventures.
If you would like to see any of the others
type 'Taffy' into the search box which is just below the picture of me
on the left hand side of my blog,
and take your pick!

Looking forward to catching up with you all and meeting any new bloggers, over at Handmade Monday, see you soon :)

Chester the crochet cat and Taffy the crochet bear help with Hedge Trimming!

Hello

It's that time of the week again! I shall be visiting Handmade Harbour for the fantastic Handmade Monday Link Party later but first I must start by thanking you for your comments from last week, I read them all but didn't get the opportunity to reply to them this week.  I love receiving them though, so please don't stop!!

Unfortunately no makes this week so I thought you may like to see what Chester and Taffy have been up to.  I'll just give you a quick update on the WIP first.

Hobbycraft
This project is still progressing slowly!  I have a lot of measuring to do in a moment which probably will involve maths too.  Ugh! not my favourite bit of the project, but very necessary.  I am hoping to go and collect the yarn tomorrow, providing the supplier has the correct colour in stock (no I can't tell you what colour it is yet!!!).

Kidsilk Haze Stripe Cardigan
Also progressing slowly!  I'm half way up both fronts now but I think it may have to be put on hold if I get the yarn for the Hobbycraft project tomorrow!!

Chester and Taffy
And now to see what these two characters have been up to.  For those of you not yet familiar with Chester and Taffy click on their individual links below and all will be revealed!

We had some major hedge trimming to do this weekend so enlisted the help of Chester and Taffy!  Or should that read hindrance!  Chester was quite useful as he is rather tall and could reach the high bits but as usual Taffy was up to mischief and no Uncle Martin in sight!

Onto the BIG machine now - just need to fill it up with petrol!

Uh Oh!  Look who's on the scene now!
What have you got in your hand Taffy?

No Taffy!  This is not helpful at all!
(There is no real petrol anywhere near this picture.
NEVER put matches anywhere near petrol)

Now what are you up to? You'll get stuck!!!

What did I tell you Taffy?  How do you think you're going to get down now then?
Perhaps best to leave him up there, he can't get into any more mischief up there can he?

Well somehow he got down!!!!  I tell you it's worse than having children!
You need eyes in the back of your head!!

I hope you have enjoyed Chester and Taffy's antics.
It made us chuckle and we knew what was coming next!
Hopefully this little picture gallery has helped brighten up your week or maybe
it will put a smile on your face for the week to come!
Have a good one, whatever you are doing!
Bye for now, see you next week :)

Taffy at the Dentist!

Hello everyone

As you will know from my previous post we all had our 6 monthly check-up at the dentist recently, including Taffy!

"Everything looks fine" said the dentist "See you again in 6 months".
Phew said Taffy!
Taffy is looking very pleased with himself now!  The dentist gave him a sticker for being such a good teddy!
I think this may have been a first for the dentist, as well as Taffy!
What do you think?

Taffy helps with the household chores!

Hi everyone!

I'm supposed to be doing housework! but I thought I would check a few emails and ended up blogging!  Got to go to the dentist later :(

I thought you may want to see what Taffy's been up to lately.  I've been meaning to post these for a couple of weeks now but with one thing and another didn't get around to it.

It was actually raining outside and Taffy was bored
He very kindly offered to help me with the household chores.  You can see he means business as he rolled up his sleeves to get stuck in (well, took off his waistcoat really).
Here he is cleaning the toilet!
Cleaning the bath!
Cleaning the mirror!  Who's that in there? They look just like me!  Very handsome!
Taffy's helping to collect the washing ready to put in the machine!
Loading the washing machine!
Noooo!  Taffy you're not supposed to be on that side of the machine!  Jump out quick!

Well that's it for now, hope the photos made you smile!  You'll be glad to know Taffy did get out and lived to tell the tale!  He has some new boots now and tried them out last weekend but that's another post, when I get around to it!

Taffy's not so keen to help this week so shall have to do the housework myself :( and then off to the dentist :((
Ugh!
Never mind out for a meal with friends tonight - something to look forward to.
Have a good weekend folks, will be looking forward to hearing all about
what you get up to!

Knitted Wire Brooch Workshop - Countess Wear Village Hall

Hi there!  Happy Monday!

Have had a very busy weekend with my daughter's birthday.  She and her boyfriend cooked a meal for 16 on Saturday night.  Absolutely delicious :) Just managed to seat everyone at the dining table! Our other daughter and her boyfriend came to stay for the weekend too. So lots of fun, eating and drinking all weekend :)

Today I have been busy starting to think about the Knitted Wire Brooch Workshop I am running at Countess Wear Village Hall http://www.countesswearvillagehall.co.uk/vh/Courses.html  If you are interested in any of the courses on offer here, please contact them via the link to their website.
Here is the kind of brooch we will be making.
I have started measuring out the wire so everyone can have a choice of colour.
Still a few more to go as we may have up to 12 crafters.
Glass pearls for the centre of the brooch.  Oooh which colours to order?
Would you believe that this has taken me all afternoon to sort out and I'm still not finished!

Chester
Unfortunately Chester has ground to a halt until I can decide what to stuff his arms and legs with!
I emailed a foam company to see if they could help with any waste bits of foam but they haven't got back to me yet!  Maybe I shall have to try somewhere else.

Taffy
Taffy is relaxing at the moment and having a fitting for his new boots, kindly being made for him by my daughter! The birthday weekend and Uni work seem to have got in the way though!  Should be finished soon hopefully.

Needle Felting

I've been having a play on something a little smaller than Chester recently!  This is a tiny needle felted picture which is a fraction under 2" square.  It is made completely from scraps of carpet yarn needle felted together.  It's not backed on felt or any fabric and was done using a single needle.  I really must invest in one of those multiple needles!  This is my first attempt at something like this so the picture was made up as I went along.  I shall have to see if I can find a few inspiring designs so I can try another one.

Ok, shall be at work for the next 3 days so not too much time for crafting :( boo hoo! but needs must.

Folksy
Just a last minute thought!  I've got a small shop on Folksy (only two items on there at the moment!) and am thinking of getting organised on the selling front and putting more items on.  If you've had any experience with Folksy or Etsy I would love to here how well your items sold or didn't as the case may be!

Thank you for taking time to read my ramblings, I've enjoyed my little chat with you all :)  I read, appreciate and reply to all comments you leave so please feel free to stop by for a chat.
Bye, see you all again soon!

Taffy's Walk in Kingston, Devon

Hi there!
A separate little post so you can see what Taffy got up to on his walk at the weekend!
It had turned very cold the day before Taffy's walk.  Ice skating was a must across some puddles!  Hold on tight to daddy's hand!
Taffy decides to have a go at rock climbing!  Do be careful Taffy!  I don't think Uncle Martin should have suggested this!
A well deserved rest!
What a big pipe Taffy?!
Careful Taffy!  I think this has something to do with Uncle Martin.  He's a bad influence on you Taffy!

Look out for Taffy's next adventure! Who knows where it will be!

Taffy's day out at the Eden Project

Happy Monday afternoon folks!

I started off having a good day today, bit of gardening and painting the shed - it was gorgeous first thing this morning, I was outside in a T-shirt.
Just been on a trip to Tesco (should've gone last Friday but we either went out or ate leftovers at the weekend as I just couldn't muster up the enthusiasm - know what I mean?) and now I'm feeling very Mondayish!  Just bought a few chocolate treats to cheer myself up!  The piece of Rocky Road I just ate, hopefully, will take effect soon!  Not doing too well on the 'healthy eating plan'!!!!

Eden Project
Taffy enjoyed his day out at the Eden Project.  It was the first time he had been in the car so we made sure he was strapped in safely for the long journey!
We, of course, had to stop for coffee and cake on the way down.  Taffy's cake was huuuuge!
We also stopped at Bodmin.  Put two hours in the car park and stayed 25 minutes.  Need I say more! We had lots of steps to climb on the way back to the car!
We finally arrived at the Eden Project.  Here is Taffy with the bio-domes in the background.
A walk around the outside first.  Found a few more primroses than I had in my garden!  "Oooh they smell lovely" said Taffy!
We came across some very odd looking plants though!
And a wall of hemp!
Taffy felt very at home in the next picture!
It was very warm and humid in the Tropical Dome and as I do not have a very healthy reputation with cameras I decided to keep it firmly inside my pocket.  So no photos in here I'm afraid.
By the time we got out it had got dark, we went to have a look at the ice skating rink.  Taffy didn't fancy a go, he was quite happy to watch.
Next, a  look around 'The Core' (a sort of educational building) which was very interesting.  They had an alternative entrance for children so Taffy just had to have a go!  Weeee!
Taffy was getting tired now so we made our way back to the car.  Luckily since the last time we went they had built a new lift and a bridge so no need to walk back up the hill.  Here is Taffy in the lift and one last view of the Eden Project in the dark.

We had a really good time at the Eden Project and for anyone living in Devon or Cornwall it is only £5 at the moment.  This includes being able to return as many times as you wish, free of charge, during the next year.  Here is the link to the for those of you who are interested.  http://www.edenproject.com/?gclid=CO7w5aTN5q0CFZQgfAod0RiC9Q

I'll update you on the crochet cat, who incidentally has now been named, in the next few days.  I've called him Chester.  The body is all finished and I've just started on his head!  Pickies will follow soon.

Have a good week folks
see you soon, byee! x
